Court Orders Arrest of Alleged Fake PFIPC DG Adeniyi Adeyemi Over Forgery Charges
A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly paraded himself as the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), after he failed to appear for his scheduled arraignment.
Justice Mohammed Garba Umar ordered Adeyemi’s arrest following his absence in court, where he was expected to take his plea on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery, impersonation and the alleged use of forged government documents.
According to the prosecution, Adeyemi unlawfully presented himself as the head of the PFIPC, an organisation that the Federal Government has maintained is not a recognised government agency. Investigators further alleged that forged appointment letters and other official documents were used in connection with the activities of the purported council.
The Federal Government has consistently distanced itself from the PFIPC, insisting that no such agency exists within the structure of the Presidency.
Following Adeyemi’s failure to appear in court, the judge directed security agencies to arrest him and produce him before the court to answer the charges against him.
The case is one of the high-profile legal proceedings arising from the alleged PFIPC fraud investigation, with authorities continuing efforts to unravel the activities linked to the purported organisation. Adeyemi is expected to be arraigned once the arrest warrant is executed.
