Ogbomoso Group Knocks ‘Fabricated’ Property Claims Against Late Alao-Akala, Vows Legal Action
A political group based in Ogbomoso, Ajilete People’s Voice, has strongly dismissed fresh allegations linking the late former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, to a controversial list of properties, describing the claims as false, malicious, and politically motivated.
In a statement issued by its President, Engr. Adeyemi Adekunle, the group said its attention was drawn to the circulating reports alleging that several properties belonged to the late statesman, a development it described as suspicious and ill-timed.
Adekunle questioned the motive behind the renewed allegations, wondering why such claims are resurfacing years after the former governor’s passing. He likened the situation to a baseless search for wrongdoing where none exists, asking rhetorically who stands to benefit from dragging the name of the late leader into controversy.
The group emphasized that while Alao-Akala was alive, multiple petitions were reportedly filed against him at agencies such as the EFCC and ICPC, but most of them were dismissed for lacking merit. According to the statement, this history reinforces the belief that the current allegations are equally unfounded.
Describing the late governor as a “great son of Ajilete land” and a figure who left behind a legacy of impactful governance, Ajilete People’s Voice insisted that no amount of falsehood would tarnish his reputation.
The group further argued that it is culturally inappropriate to malign the dead, noting that any true son or daughter of Yoruba land would refrain from attacking someone who can no longer defend himself.
It maintained that the list of properties being circulated is entirely fabricated and part of a broader attempt to create tension and destabilize Oyo State.
Ajilete People’s Voice also revealed that it has begun moves to uncover those behind the allegations and promised to pursue legal action against individuals or groups responsible for spreading what it described as deliberate falsehood.
The group concluded by assuring the public that the alleged plot to discredit the legacy of Alao-Akala would ultimately fail, stressing that his contributions to governance and development remain indelible.
