Fake Viagra, Omeprazole Repackaged in Lagos Warehouse as Authorities Uncover Suspected Counterfeit Drug Operation
A suspected counterfeit drug syndicate operating from a warehouse in Lagos has been uncovered, exposing an alleged large-scale operation involving the repackaging of fake and substandard medicines, including Viagra, Omeprazole and other widely used pharmaceutical products.
The discovery has raised fresh concerns about the circulation of counterfeit drugs in Nigeria and the serious health risks they pose to unsuspecting consumers. Investigators believe the warehouse was being used to repackage suspected fake medications into branded containers before distributing them to the market.
Authorities involved in the operation recovered various pharmaceutical products, packaging materials, labels and equipment allegedly used to alter the identity of the medicines. Preliminary findings suggest the repackaged drugs were intended to deceive consumers into believing they were genuine products from licensed manufacturers.
