Bode George Faults Wike Over Abuja Residence Claim, Threatens Legal Action
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over his reported remarks concerning an Abuja residence, warning that he is prepared to seek legal redress if the claims are not withdrawn.
George described the alleged statement as false, misleading and damaging to his reputation, insisting that he has never engaged in any conduct that would justify the claims attributed to him. He maintained that the allegations were capable of misleading the public and tarnishing his image.
The PDP elder statesman said he had instructed his legal team to examine the matter and take appropriate action, including filing a lawsuit, should Wike fail to retract the statement and issue a public apology. He stressed that public office holders must exercise restraint and ensure their comments are factual and responsible.
George further noted that political disagreements should not descend into personal attacks or unsubstantiated allegations, urging political leaders to focus on governance and issues that promote national development rather than engaging in exchanges capable of deepening divisions.
The latest dispute adds another dimension to the long-running political differences between George and Wike, both influential figures within the PDP, as internal disagreements continue to shape conversations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
