Ondo Police Arrest Six Suspects Over Alleged ₦71 Million Vehicle Fraud Scheme
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested six suspects over the alleged fraudulent sale and illegal transfer of three heavy-duty vehicles valued at more than ₦71 million in a major interstate operation.
The suspects were apprehended in Ibadan, Oyo State, following an intelligence-driven investigation launched by operatives of the Fagun Division after a complaint was filed by the owner of the vehicles.
According to the police, the case was reported on May 22, 2026, by a resident of Ondo town, Mr. Paul Aderemi, who alleged that three commercial vehicles he purchased in 2025 were unlawfully sold without his consent.
Investigators revealed that the vehicles, which included a low-loader truck, a tipper truck, and a smaller truck, were worth approximately ₦71 million. The owner had reportedly entrusted the vehicles to one of the suspects under a mutual business arrangement before discovering they had been sold without authorization.
The arrested suspects were identified as Adeola Kolawole, Alhaji Gani Bello, Oladoja Akeem, Wasiu Adigun, Azeez Yusuf, and Ojo Mudasiru.
Police authorities disclosed that the investigation led to the arrest of the principal suspect, who allegedly admitted during interrogation to selling the vehicles to another suspect in Ibadan. His statement reportedly provided critical intelligence that helped detectives track down and arrest other individuals linked to the transaction.
The command said all six suspects have made statements regarding their alleged involvement in the case, while efforts are ongoing to recover the missing vehicles and uncover the full extent of the suspected criminal network.
The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Felix Ohagwu, commended the officers involved in the operation, describing the arrests as evidence of the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-state collaboration among security agencies.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state and warned that individuals involved in criminal activities would face the full weight of the law.
Police authorities also urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in combating crime and maintaining public safety.
The suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
