Ogun Police Boost Security Operations Ahead of Eid-el-Kabir 2026 Celebration
The Ogun State Police Command has intensified security operations across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, assuring residents of adequate protection of lives and property throughout the festive period.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Command said the proactive security measures were directed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, to ensure a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free Sallah celebration across Ogun State.
According to the statement, security personnel and operational assets have been strategically deployed to Eid prayer grounds, major highways, markets, motor parks, recreational centres, residential communities, and other public locations identified as vulnerable during the festivities.
The Command explained that the deployment is aimed at strengthening visible policing, improving crowd control, enhancing intelligence gathering, and ensuring swift response to any security threat before, during, and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The police further disclosed that all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders have been placed on high alert with directives to sustain aggressive patrols, conduct stop-and-search operations where necessary, and maintain constant supervision of officers within their jurisdictions.
The Command also stressed the importance of collaboration with community leaders, transport unions, and relevant stakeholders to improve intelligence sharing and prevent any breakdown of law and order during the festive season.
Residents were urged to celebrate responsibly and remain security conscious, while parents and guardians were advised to closely monitor the activities and movement of their children and wards.
The police warned against thuggery, cult-related violence, reckless driving, and any form of disorderly conduct capable of disrupting public peace during the Sallah celebration.
Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and public safety, CP Bode Ojajuni encouraged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
