Defence Headquarters Identifies Terror Group Responsible for Oyo School Attack
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has revealed fresh details about the terrorist group allegedly responsible for the recent attack on schools in Oyo State, raising renewed concerns over security threats targeting educational institutions in Nigeria.
Military authorities disclosed that investigations and intelligence gathering linked the attack to a criminal network with suspected terrorist affiliations operating within parts of the South-West region.
According to defence officials, the group has reportedly been involved in coordinated violent activities, including kidnappings, attacks on communities, and threats against public institutions.
The DHQ explained that security agencies have intensified surveillance and joint operations aimed at dismantling the group and preventing further attacks on schools and civilian targets.
Authorities also assured residents that troops and intelligence operatives have been deployed to strategic areas across Oyo State and neighbouring communities to strengthen security presence and restore public confidence.
The military emphasized that efforts are ongoing to track down members of the syndicate and their collaborators, while investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Security experts have continued to warn about the growing spread of criminal and extremist elements into previously peaceful regions, urging stronger collaboration between local communities and security agencies.
The Defence Headquarters further appealed to residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities capable of threatening public safety.
The incident has sparked widespread concern among parents, education stakeholders and residents over the safety of schools and children amid rising insecurity across parts of the country.
