Maiduguri Bombings: Opposition Party Urges Tinubu to Cut UK Trip Short

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately return to Nigeria following the deadly bomb attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The appeal follows multiple explosions that struck parts of the city, leaving dozens dead and many others injured. The blasts reportedly occurred in crowded locations, including a market area and near a medical facility, sparking renewed fears over the security situation in the region.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party condemned the attacks and expressed condolences to the victims and their families. It described the incident as a painful reminder of the country’s persistent security challenges.
ADC also questioned the president’s absence at a time of national distress, stressing that leadership presence is critical during moments of crisis. The party urged the federal government to prioritize the safety of citizens and respond decisively to the growing threat of insecurity.
The opposition group further warned that the resurgence of such coordinated attacks in Maiduguri signals a troubling setback in efforts to combat insurgency, calling for urgent and strengthened measures to restore confidence and protect lives.
