NAHCON Completes Airlift of Nigerian Pilgrims for 2026 Hajj
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has successfully concluded the outbound airlift of Nigerian pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise, marking a major milestone in the country’s annual pilgrimage operations.
The commission confirmed that all registered pilgrims from different states across Nigeria have now been transported to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ahead of the commencement of the spiritual rites.
NAHCON officials described the operation as smooth and well-coordinated, noting that the exercise involved multiple airlines, state pilgrims’ welfare boards and federal agencies working together to ensure timely departures.
According to the commission, the final batch of pilgrims departed Nigeria after weeks of intensive flight operations from designated airports nationwide. Authorities also commended the cooperation of pilgrims, airline operators and support personnel throughout the exercise.
The commission stated that adequate arrangements had been made in Saudi Arabia regarding accommodation, feeding, transportation and medical support for Nigerian pilgrims during their stay in the holy land.
NAHCON further assured that officials on ground in Saudi Arabia would continue to monitor the welfare and movement of pilgrims to ensure a hitch-free Hajj exercise.
Religious leaders and stakeholders have also urged pilgrims to remain law-abiding, focus on spiritual devotion and represent Nigeria positively while performing the pilgrimage.
The successful completion of the outbound airlift is seen as a significant achievement for the commission amid the logistical and operational challenges often associated with coordinating one of the largest annual religious gatherings involving Nigerians abroad.
