Rivers 2027: Wike Denies Endorsing Any Governorship Candidate, Distances Self From Fubara
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that he has endorsed any candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State, insisting that reports linking him to political endorsements are false and misleading.
Wike also declared that he and his political loyalists are no longer working with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, amid the lingering political crisis in the state.
Speaking during a media interaction, the former Rivers governor stated that he has not anointed anyone for the next governorship race and warned against speculation surrounding his political position ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Wike, those spreading rumours about endorsements are merely attempting to create confusion within the political landscape of Rivers State. He maintained that any decision regarding future political support would be made openly and at the appropriate time.
The FCT minister further emphasized that there is currently no political alliance or working relationship between him and Governor Fubara, signaling that the rift between both camps remains unresolved despite previous reconciliation efforts.
The political crisis between Wike and Fubara has continued to shape the political atmosphere in Rivers State, with divisions among stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and growing speculations ahead of future elections.
