2027 Election: Shehu Sani Urges Northern Politicians to Respect Power Rotation Principle

Former Kaduna Central Senator and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Shehu Sani, has urged political leaders in Northern Nigeria to respect the principle of power rotation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sani stressed that fairness, equity, and political inclusion remain essential to preserving national unity and democratic stability in the country.
Speaking during a political gathering in Kaduna, the former lawmaker emphasized that leaders should support arrangements that promote justice and continuity, warning against actions capable of creating unnecessary political divisions.
According to him, respecting the rotational principle would strengthen democracy and encourage peaceful coexistence among different regions of the country. He also maintained that political actors must prioritize national interest over personal ambitions.
Sani further described his endorsement by APC stakeholders as a recognition of his contributions to democratic development, while insisting that the endorsement does not stop other aspirants from contesting in the party primaries.
Several party leaders and stakeholders in Kaduna Central reportedly backed his senatorial ambition, citing his political experience, grassroots support, and contributions to democratic struggles in Nigeria.
