Police Rescue Kidnapped Woman, Toddler During Gun Battle with Abductors in Kwara Forest
The Nigeria Police Force has rescued a kidnapped woman and her two-year-old son following a successful tactical operation against suspected kidnappers in a forest located in Kwara State.
The operation was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), working alongside local security support groups after receiving credible intelligence on the location where the victims were being held.
Police said the rescue mission took place in a forest around the Bode Sadu axis of Kwara State, where the kidnappers had reportedly hidden their captives.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Iniedu, the suspected kidnappers opened fire on the advancing security operatives in a bid to resist arrest. The officers responded with superior firepower, forcing the criminals to flee deeper into the forest and abandon their victims.
A thorough search of the area led to the successful rescue of the victims, identified as 43-year-old Adijat Kuburat and her two-year-old son, Abdul Malik Hamzat. The police confirmed that both mother and child were rescued unharmed.
Following the operation, the victims received medical attention and were reunited with their family members.
The Inspector-General of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism, bravery and swift response, describing the rescue as another demonstration of the Force’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across Nigeria.
He also urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence that could help prevent criminal activities and improve public safety.
The latest rescue operation adds to ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to dismantle kidnapping syndicates and strengthen security across the country through intelligence-driven operations.
