Four Killed, 10 Injured in Fresh Benue Community Attack
At least four persons have been killed and 10 others injured following a fresh attack by suspected armed herders on communities in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, sparking renewed fear among residents.
The latest assault reportedly occurred in the Turan area of the local government, where heavily armed attackers invaded several settlements, opening fire on residents and forcing many to flee their homes. The attack left multiple people with varying degrees of injuries, while several houses and properties were reportedly affected.
Community sources disclosed that the victims were rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment, while local volunteers and security personnel continued search operations in the affected areas to determine whether more casualties or missing persons could be found.
The renewed violence has heightened tension across the area, with residents calling on the Federal Government and security agencies to strengthen security operations and provide adequate protection for vulnerable communities.
Local leaders also appealed for urgent humanitarian assistance for displaced families, many of whom have abandoned their homes over fears of further attacks.
The incident adds to the growing list of violent attacks recorded in parts of Benue State in recent weeks, despite ongoing security efforts aimed at restoring peace in affected communities.
