Three serving members of the House of Representatives in Oyo State, including Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, have secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) tickets to seek a fourth term in the National Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The lawmakers emerged victorious during the APC primary elections conducted across various federal constituencies in Oyo State amid intense political competition and strategic party realignments.
Among the successful candidates is Akeem Adeyemi, popularly known as “Skimeh,” who secured the APC ticket for the Oyo Federal Constituency seat, strengthening his bid for another term in the House of Representatives.
Also securing return tickets were Hon. Olaide Lateef Mohammed representing Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire Federal Constituency and Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun representing Atiba/Oyo East/Oyo West/Afijio Federal Constituency.
The victories further underline the strong influence of the incumbents within the APC structure in Oyo State as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections.
Political observers noted that the outcome of the primaries reflected the continued dominance of experienced lawmakers who have maintained strong grassroots networks and political loyalty within their constituencies.
Party stakeholders described the primary elections as largely peaceful, although consultations and political negotiations reportedly played major roles in determining the emergence of several candidates.
The APC primaries in Oyo State have continued to attract attention due to the strategic importance of the state in Southwest politics and the growing competition among party loyalists ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Analysts believe the emergence of returning lawmakers may influence future power calculations within the party, especially as both the APC and opposition parties begin early preparations for the governorship and legislative elections.
The successful candidates are expected to intensify consultations and mobilization efforts across their constituencies as campaigns gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 polls.
