2027: Baba-Ahmed Vows to Mobilise Opposition Against Tinubu’s Re-Election Bid
Former political adviser and prominent northern elder, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has declared that he will work actively with opposition forces to prevent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from securing re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, many Nigerians are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the current state of the nation, especially rising inflation, unemployment, insecurity, and the growing cost of living affecting millions of citizens.
The former Northern Elders Forum spokesperson argued that opposition parties and political stakeholders must begin early consultations and strategic alliances if they hope to successfully challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
He stressed that defeating an incumbent government would require unity, strong grassroots mobilization, and credible leadership capable of attracting nationwide support across different regions of the country.
Baba-Ahmed also expressed concerns over what he described as the widening gap between political leaders and ordinary Nigerians struggling with economic realities.
Political observers believe his comments reflect the growing political realignments already taking shape ahead of the 2027 elections as opposition figures intensify coalition talks and consultations.
The statement comes amid increasing political tension and speculation surrounding possible alliances involving opposition leaders and influential political blocs preparing for the next presidential contest.
Supporters of President Tinubu, however, continue to defend the administration’s policies, arguing that ongoing economic reforms and infrastructure projects require time to produce positive results.
Analysts believe the battle for the 2027 presidency may become one of Nigeria’s most competitive political contests as major parties reposition themselves and influential political actors begin strategic negotiations nationwide
