The Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode has disclosed that the attack on a family at Wasinmi village in Ikire was not connected to any clash between farmers and herders.

The Police boss, on Sunday, said the preliminary investigations by the Police revealed that the killing was not a farmer, herders clash.

Earlier, it was reported that unknown gunmen, at the wee hours of Sunday, invaded Wasinmi village in the Irewole Local Government Area of the state, leaving six herders dead and one person injured.

Olokode disclosed this through a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola and made available to newsmen on Sunday.

The Police boss who visited the scene of the incident for an ‘on-the-spot security assessment’, noted that the Command has commenced discrete investigations into the incident and already carrying out an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators to bring them to justice.
