Oshiomhole Accuses Akpabio of Breaching Political Truce Amid APC Leadership Tensions
Former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of violating a political understanding between them, exposing fresh cracks within the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oshiomhole made the allegation while reacting to recent political developments, claiming that Akpabio failed to honour an agreement they had reached. Although he did not disclose the full details of the alleged pact, the former Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president maintained that the Senate President’s actions amounted to a breach of trust.
According to Oshiomhole, mutual respect and adherence to agreements are essential for sustaining unity and confidence among political leaders. He stressed that political alliances can only endure when all parties remain committed to the terms of their understanding.
The remarks have sparked renewed interest in the internal dynamics of the APC, with political observers suggesting that the disagreement could further fuel speculation over power blocs and leadership alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Neither Akpabio nor his media aides had issued an official response to Oshiomhole’s claims at the time of filing this report. However, the development has generated widespread reactions within political circles, with many awaiting clarification from both leaders.
The latest exchange comes as political activities continue to intensify across the country, with key figures in the APC and opposition parties repositioning ahead of the next election cycle.
