Police Intensify Crackdown on Deadly FCT–Nasarawa Kidnap Syndicate
The Nigeria Police Force has intensified its offensive against kidnapping with a coordinated crackdown on a deadly criminal syndicate operating across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and neighbouring Nasarawa State.
The operation, carried out by specialised tactical teams and intelligence officers, targeted suspected members of the gang believed to be responsible for a series of kidnappings, violent attacks, and other criminal activities along the FCT–Nasarawa corridor. Police said the operation followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance aimed at dismantling the network.
According to the Force, several suspected members of the syndicate were arrested during the operation, while security operatives recovered weapons, ammunition, communication devices, and other items believed to have been used in carrying out criminal activities. Investigators are also working to identify additional members of the gang and trace their collaborators.
The Police stated that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security within the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding communities, where incidents of kidnapping have posed significant security concerns in recent years. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing criminal groups and ensuring that those responsible for violent crimes are brought to justice.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and promptly report suspicious activities that could help prevent kidnapping and other security threats. The Police also assured the public that intelligence-led operations would continue across identified flashpoints to improve public safety and restore confidence in affected communities.
The latest crackdown underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s determination to combat kidnapping, dismantle organised criminal networks, and enhance security across the FCT, Nasarawa State, and other parts of the country.
