LPPC Elevates 68 Lawyers to Senior Advocate of Nigeria Rank
The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has approved the elevation of 68 distinguished legal practitioners to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), recognising their outstanding contributions to legal practice, advocacy and the administration of justice in the country.
The announcement followed the committee’s rigorous selection process, during which candidates were assessed based on professional competence, integrity, advocacy skills, legal scholarship and commitment to the development of Nigeria’s justice system.
The newly elevated Senior Advocates are expected to take the oath of office at a formal ceremony scheduled by the Supreme Court, joining the elite body of legal professionals accorded the country’s highest honour in the legal profession.
The LPPC noted that the conferment of the SAN rank remains a recognition of excellence, exceptional legal practice and unwavering dedication to upholding the rule of law. It added that the selection process was conducted in line with established guidelines to ensure transparency, fairness and merit.
Legal stakeholders have described the latest elevation as a milestone that will further strengthen the legal profession by rewarding excellence and inspiring younger lawyers to pursue the highest standards of advocacy and professional ethics.
The conferment of the SAN title is one of the most prestigious honours available to Nigerian lawyers and is reserved for practitioners who have demonstrated exceptional distinction in litigation or legal scholarship while making significant contributions to the growth of the legal profession.
