Elumelu Initiative Disburses $100m to 24,000 African Entrepreneurs in 10 Years

The programme, launched in 2015, was created as a long-term effort to identify, train, mentor, and fund African entrepreneurs, with a focus on driving economic growth and job creation across the continent.
Over the years, beneficiaries have collectively generated significant business revenue and created millions of direct and indirect jobs in various sectors.
Beyond funding, the initiative has also provided training opportunities to millions of Africans through its digital platform, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required to build sustainable businesses.
The programme offers seed capital, mentorship, and access to networks, enabling young entrepreneurs to scale their ventures and contribute to economic development.
Tony Elumelu has consistently highlighted entrepreneurship as a key driver of Africa’s transformation, stressing that empowering young people is essential to reducing unemployment and fostering inclusive growth.
The initiative continues to expand its reach across the continent, with growing participation from women and underserved communities, further strengthening its impact on Africa’s economic future.
