Bajulaiye Hails Lagos Traffic Radio as Reliable Companion for Seamless Navigation


The newly deployed Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Olanrewaju Bajulaiye, has commended Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1FM for its consistency and innovation in providing real-time traffic information to residents and motorists across the metropolis.
During a working visit to the Station, Mr. Bajulaiye described Lagos Traffic Radio as a “trusted companion” that has become indispensable for commuters navigating the city’s busy roads. He lauded the management and staff for their commitment to excellence despite challenges and urged them to deepen synergy and embrace more innovative strategies to enhance service delivery.
“Lagos is the largest economy in Sub-Saharan Africa, and all eyes are on us,” Bajulaiye said. “The role Lagos Traffic Radio plays in keeping the city moving is invaluable. We must continue to explore new frontiers even reaching people in the diaspora who follow Lagos traffic updates. What you are doing meets the needs and yearnings of the people. Keep it up.”
Accompanied by Dr. Jide Atansuyi, Director of Social Media, and Mr. Kayode Oyekanmi, Director of Strategy Centre, Bajulaiye emphasized the Station’s crucial role in advancing the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
Welcoming the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Tayo Akanle, General Manager of Lagos Traffic Radio, congratulated him on his appointment and noted that his return to the Ministry of Information and Strategy would further strengthen the sector. He highlighted the Station’s reforms and innovations over its 13 years of operation including expanded traffic updates across waterways, railways, and flight schedules; live camera updates; and the establishment of booster stations in Ikorodu and soon in Ibeju-Lekki to enhance signal reach.
Akanle revealed that the Station is working with the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology to increase its live camera feeds from 300 to over 3,000, significantly improving its studio visibility.
He also disclosed a remarkable surge in social media engagement, with Facebook followers rising from 4,000 in 2019 to 100,000, and X (Twitter) followers growing from 15,000 to 55,000.
“For 13 years, Lagos Traffic Radio has remained true to its purpose providing timely traffic information and travel advisories not just within Lagos but neighboring states. We’ve grown by leaps and bounds, and the commitment of our team continues to drive this success,” Akanle affirmed.
The Permanent Secretary and his team were later conducted around the Station’s facilities, including the live studios, transmitter room, and the Live Motorbike Reporters’ unit.
