2027: Moghalu Clarifies Position as Atiku’s Campaign Team Takes Shape

embers of Atiku Abubakar’s proposed 2027 campaign policy team.
Moghalu said he was not consulted before his name was included in the campaign structure and stressed that he did not give his consent to serve on the team.
The development comes as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential campaign of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar moves to establish its organisational and policy structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atiku’s campaign has announced several prominent Nigerians for key positions within its campaign council, including individuals expected to contribute to the development of policy proposals and strategic direction for the election.
However, Moghalu’s clarification has drawn attention to the importance of consent and confirmation when prominent professionals are listed as members of political campaign structures.
The former CBN deputy governor has maintained that he is no longer involved in partisan politics. He previously contested the 2019 presidential election under the Young Progressive Party before subsequently withdrawing from active partisan politics.
Moghalu has also continued to participate in public policy discussions, particularly on governance, economic transformation and national development. His position suggests that his engagement with national issues should not automatically be interpreted as endorsement of any political party or presidential candidate.
As political parties and emerging political alliances prepare for the 2027 elections, the development highlights the growing significance of campaign policy teams and the personalities being associated with them.
