A True Leader Beyond Tribe and Religion: Oshodi-Isolo Chairman, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof-Oloyede, Rescues Out-of-School Boy, Empowers His Mother
The Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, has once again reaffirmed his reputation as a compassionate, people-centered, and detribalized leader with a genuine passion for human development.
In a remarkable display of leadership without bias to religion or tribe, Otunba Almaroof-Oloyede rescued Master Michael Muhammad, a young boy found wandering the streets instead of being in school, and immediately took decisive steps to secure his future.
While inspecting an ongoing project along Amusa Street, the chairman encountered the boy and, upon inquiry, discovered that Michael had been out of school due to financial hardship faced by his widowed mother. Deeply touched by the situation, Otunba Almaroof-Oloyede personally pledged to sponsor the boy’s education and also ensure he acquires a vocational skill alongside formal learning — a move aimed at equipping him for self-reliance and a brighter future.
In his characteristic manner, the council boss didn’t stop there. He extended his humanitarian gesture to the boy’s mother, Mrs. Aishat Muhammad, by placing her on a monthly stipend to ease her financial burden and help her sustain her small business.
Speaking with emotion, Mrs. Muhammad expressed her heartfelt gratitude, describing the intervention as a divine blessing.
> “I am truly grateful for this unexpected help from our chairman, Otunba Almaroof-Oloyede. As a single mother, things have been very tough, but his kindness has given us hope again. I pray that God continues to bless him,” she said.
Young Michael also beamed with excitement as he thanked the chairman for giving him a new chance at life and education.
Otunba Almaroof-Oloyede, widely known as Kendoo, has consistently shown that his leadership transcends political, religious, or ethnic boundaries. His actions continue to reflect the true spirit of democracy — service to all, compassion for the less privileged, and an unwavering belief that every child deserves an opportunity to succeed.
Through initiatives like this, Otunba Almaroof-Oloyede stands out as a philanthropist, bridge-builder, and exemplary leader, whose governance is rooted in empathy, inclusiveness, and a commitment to building a better future for all residents of Oshodi-Isolo, regardless of background or belief.
