2027: Sharafadeen Alli Promises Review of Ibadan Circular Road Project, Justice for Affected Residents
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 Oyo State election, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has pledged to carry out a comprehensive review of the Ibadan Circular Road project if elected, assuring residents affected by the development that his administration will pursue justice, fairness and transparent compensation.
Speaking on his vision for infrastructure and governance, Senator Alli acknowledged the strategic importance of the Ibadan Circular Road project to the economic growth and urban expansion of Oyo State. However, he maintained that no development initiative should undermine the rights, livelihoods and welfare of the people.
The APC governorship hopeful said his administration would set up a high-powered committee to assess every aspect of the project, including land acquisition, compensation, property demolition and other concerns raised by affected communities. According to him, the review would ensure that all grievances are properly addressed and that deserving victims receive fair treatment in line with the law.
Alli stressed that while infrastructure development remains essential for attracting investment, improving transportation and boosting economic activities, government has a responsibility to protect citizens whose homes, businesses and properties are affected by public projects.
He promised that his administration would adopt a people-centred approach to governance by balancing development with social justice. The senator assured residents that every legitimate complaint relating to the Circular Road project would receive careful attention, adding that transparency and accountability would guide the review process.
The APC candidate also urged stakeholders to avoid politicising the concerns of affected residents, insisting that the issues deserve sincere engagement and practical solutions rather than partisan debates. He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance that prioritises dialogue, equity and the protection of citizens’ interests.
The Ibadan Circular Road project is one of Oyo State’s major infrastructure initiatives designed to improve transportation, ease traffic congestion, expand urban development and stimulate economic growth. However, the project has also generated concerns over compensation and the impact of land acquisition on residents and property owners.
Senator Alli said that if elected governor in 2027, he would ensure the project achieves its developmental objectives without compromising the rights and welfare of the people, promising a fair and comprehensive resolution of all outstanding issues.
