Tobun, Surah Animashaun Shine as RELEDA Honours Outstanding Public Service in Epe


The contributions of two prominent Epe leaders to grassroots development and public service came under the spotlight on Thursday, June 18, 2026, as Hon. Abiodun Monsuru Tobun, member representing Epe Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, and the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, were celebrated at a prestigious award ceremony held at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Alausa, Ikeja.
The event, organized by Rebranding Leadership Development in Africa Initiatives (RELEDA) in collaboration with the Asiwaju Mobilization Group (AMG), brought together political leaders, community stakeholders, traditional rulers and supporters to recognize individuals who have distinguished themselves through exemplary service and commitment to societal development.
Hon. Tobun, who received the Africa Distinguished Service Award, was recognized for his legislative contributions, community empowerment initiatives and relentless pursuit of development projects aimed at improving the lives of residents across Epe Constituency I.
Speaking after receiving the award, the lawmaker dedicated the recognition to the people of Epe, describing it as a call to greater service.
According to him, the honour would further inspire him to intensify efforts toward delivering quality representation and attracting more developmental opportunities to his constituency.
He expressed appreciation to the people of Epe, traditional rulers, chiefs and community leaders for their continued support and confidence in his leadership.
Hon. Tobun also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing purposeful leadership and sustaining policies aimed at repositioning Nigeria for economic growth and national development.
The lawmaker urged Lagos residents to remain steadfast in supporting progressive governance and leadership that prioritizes development and people-oriented policies.
Also honoured during the event was Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, whose administration has been widely commended for implementing programmes and projects targeted at improving infrastructure, youth development, environmental sanitation and community welfare within Epe Local Government.
Responding to the recognition, Princess Animashaun thanked the organizers for acknowledging the efforts of leaders working at the grassroots level. She reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to delivering impactful governance and ensuring that residents continue to benefit from meaningful developmental initiatives.
The council boss further pledged her support for organizations promoting leadership excellence, youth empowerment and community advancement.
In his remarks, Convener of the Asiwaju Mobilization Group, Hon. Oladehinde Adekunle, described both award recipients as shining examples of dedicated public servants whose contributions have positively impacted the lives of thousands of people.
He particularly commended Princess Animashaun for her developmental achievements in Epe Local Government and applauded Hon. Tobun for his accessibility, commitment and unwavering dedication to the welfare of his constituents.
Adekunle noted that the recognition was designed to celebrate leaders whose actions continue to inspire confidence in public service and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
The ceremony concluded with goodwill messages from dignitaries and stakeholders who praised the award recipients for their leadership qualities and contributions to the growth and development of Epe Division.
