Ondo Citizens for Justice Call for Probe to Clarify Tunji-Ojo NYSC Certificate Controversy

The Ondo Citizens for Justice, a civic advocacy group made up of concerned indigenes of Ondo State, has expressed deep dissatisfaction over the controversy surrounding the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate of the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
In a press statement signed by its chairman, Mr. Akinwunmi Owodare, the group noted that recent media reports and unverified allegations have cast unnecessary shadows on the integrity of “our son and ambassador,” insisting that Ondo State must protect its long-standing reputation as a land of honour, education, and accountability.
Owodare emphasized that Ondo people are globally known for integrity, truthfulness, and high moral standards values passed down through generations and therefore cannot allow unresolved allegations to tarnish their collective name. He noted that although the NYSC has officially confirmed the authenticity of Tunji-Ojo’s certificate, explaining that its issuance was delayed due to a 2020 technical glitch, the rumors and public speculation have persisted.
He added that the group was also unsettled by unconfirmed reports suggesting that the minister was recently invited by the Department of State Services (DSS) in connection with the matter.
“Hon. Tunji-Ojo is our son; we cannot deny him. But at the same time, we cannot allow anything to stain our name as a people. Ondo State is known for education and integrity. Injury to one is injury to all that is our legacy,” Owodare stated.
The group therefore called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu whom they described as “our father and leader” to set up an independent investigation to thoroughly verify the facts and clear all lingering doubts. According to the group, only an unbiased probe can put an end to speculation and restore confidence in both the administration and the good people of Ondo State.
“We need an independent investigation to clear these rumors once and for all. Our father, Mr. The President, must take the necessary steps to protect the integrity of this administration and the honour of Ondo State,” the statement concluded .
