Presidency Defends Tinubu’s Economic and Fiscal Policies, Replies Atiku

The Presidency has defended the economic and fiscal policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dismissing criticisms by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and insisting that the administration’s reforms are laying the foundation for long-term economic stability and sustainable growth.
In its response, the Presidency maintained that the Tinubu administration inherited significant economic challenges and has implemented bold reforms aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability, improving public finances and creating an enabling environment for investment and job creation.
According to the Presidency, key policy decisions—including fiscal reforms, foreign exchange market adjustments, revenue mobilisation initiatives and infrastructure investments—are designed to strengthen the economy, enhance transparency and position Nigeria for sustainable development. It argued that while some of the reforms require time to yield full results, they are already attracting investor confidence and improving the country’s economic outlook.
The statement also faulted Atiku’s assessment of the administration’s economic direction, describing his criticisms as misleading and lacking proper appreciation of the structural challenges confronting the nation. It stressed that the government remains committed to implementing policies that will ease the cost of doing business, stimulate economic growth and improve the living standards of Nigerians.
The Presidency reaffirmed that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is focused on building a resilient economy through prudent fiscal management, increased domestic revenue generation, infrastructure development, industrialisation and private sector-led growth.
It assured Nigerians that the Federal Government would remain focused on delivering reforms that promote inclusive economic development, strengthen investor confidence and create opportunities for businesses and citizens despite prevailing global and domestic economic pressures.
