Ogun Journalists walk out from media briefing, as Governor Abiodun Delayed
The long awaited crisis between Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and the State journalists, has finally come out to play, as the media men walked out of the briefing on Friday.
The briefing scheduled to hold by 2pm, had about sixty journalists but could not hold as at after six in the evening which prompted the pressmen to leave in anger.
Many of the journalists who had arrived the governor’s office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta before the stipulated fixed time were angered by the governor’s disposition of keeping journalists waiting without minding their plights, hereby resolved unanimously to walk away from the place and went to their homes furiously.
It could be recalled that the state governor had on several occasions in his attempt to address the media failed to meet up with the briefing time as at when due, thus resorted in late reporting of stories by media men to their various offices.
Recall that such event happened at a media parley scheduled at his country home, Iperu-Remo, which is about fifty kilometers to Abeokuta, last Friday, April 24th, 2020, whereby journalists had to travel to the place for a briefing billed for 2pm, but could not leave the town until late at night due to governor’s delay in addressing them.
With this development, it has become obvious that the long awaited crisis may escalate beyond measure as there seems to be no going back in the prevailing crisis.
Meanwhile, all attempts by governor Abiodun aides to pacify the already angered journalists proved abortive as the walked out lasted.
