Obi–Kwankwaso Alliance Faces Legal Pressure as Ardo Moves to Challenge NDC Registration
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Umar Ardo, has vowed to challenge in court the registration of the proposed National Democratic Coalition (NDC), a platform reportedly linked to an emerging alliance between Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Ardo raised concerns over the legality and due process surrounding the formation of the NDC, insisting that any attempt to circumvent constitutional and electoral procedures would not go unchallenged. He emphasized his readiness to pursue legal action to test the legitimacy of the coalition’s registration.
The development signals what observers describe as early legal pressure surrounding the new political destination of Obi and Kwankwaso. Analysts note that the coalition is already encountering signs of legal intimidation, even before its full emergence on the national stage.
According to Ardo, the rule of law must remain paramount in Nigeria’s democratic process, warning that political alliances must operate strictly within the framework of the constitution and regulations guiding party registration.
The unfolding situation reflects rising political tensions ahead of future elections, as opposition figures explore coalition strategies to challenge the ruling establishment. However, the early legal hurdles facing the NDC may shape the trajectory and viability of the proposed alliance.
