Adamawa Police Hunt Four Suspects After Tea Seller Dies in Yola Attack
The Adamawa State Police Command has launched a manhunt for four persons allegedly linked to the death of a tea seller, Muhammad Auwal Idris, in Jimeta, Yola.
Idris was reportedly attacked on September 28, 2026, in the Nassarawo Borehole area of Jimeta, after which he was found unconscious by police operatives responding to a report made by his brother, Aliyu Idris.
According to the police, the victim was immediately rushed to a medical facility for treatment but was later pronounced dead by a doctor. His remains have subsequently been deposited at the mortuary pending an autopsy.
The police identified the alleged attackers as Isa, Japhet, Omo and Henry, adding that the four suspects had fled and remained at large as of the latest update.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said preliminary investigations had commenced, while operatives were intensifying efforts to locate and arrest the suspects.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, condemned the incident and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of investigations to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution.
The police also appealed for calm, urging residents not to take the law into their own hands as investigations continue. The circumstances surrounding the attack and the motive for the alleged assault are yet to be established publicly.
