Labour Ministry Disowns Fake Recruitment Scam, Warns Job Seekers Nationwide
The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has distanced itself from a fraudulent recruitment exercise circulating on social media and other online platforms, warning Nigerians not to fall victim to employment scammers.
In a statement issued by the ministry, officials clarified that no recruitment exercise is currently being conducted and described the advertisement as fake, misleading and the handiwork of fraudsters seeking to exploit unsuspecting job seekers.
The ministry urged members of the public to disregard the false recruitment notice, stressing that it did not authorise any individual, organisation or third party to recruit staff on its behalf.
According to the ministry, all genuine recruitment exercises into the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment are carried out in line with established public service procedures and are officially announced through recognised government channels.
It advised Nigerians, particularly unemployed youths, to remain vigilant and avoid making payments or submitting personal information to individuals or websites claiming to offer employment opportunities in the ministry.
The ministry further warned that fraudsters often use fake recruitment advertisements to obtain money and sensitive personal information from unsuspecting applicants, urging the public to verify any employment notice through official government communication channels before taking action.
Security agencies have also been encouraged to investigate and prosecute those behind the fake recruitment exercise, while Nigerians were urged to report suspicious recruitment advertisements to the appropriate authorities.
The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and due process in all recruitment activities, assuring the public that any future employment opportunities would be publicly announced through official government platforms.
