Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed viral reports claiming that a delegation from the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and former President Olusegun Obasanjo visited him at the Government House over the weekend.
In a statement signed by Nelson Chukwudi, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, the Rivers State Government described the reports as false and aimed at misleading the public.
The statement read:
“For that reason, let it be clarified that there was no such visit by any delegation of PANDEF to Governor Fubara on the said date, neither did Chief Obasanjo visit him as claimed by our detractors.”
Governor Fubara’s team accused “enemies of the state” of fabricating false narratives to disrupt the peace and governance of Rivers State.
The statement further reiterated the governor’s commitment to fully implementing the Supreme Court’s judgment regarding the ongoing political crisis in the state. However, it accused the Rivers State House of Assembly of refusing to cooperate in facilitating the resolution of the crisis.
“The governor is ready any day, any time to do the needful to ensure the resolution of the issues and smooth functioning of all arms of government in the State,” it added.
Governor Fubara urged the public to disregard the misleading reports and assured them of his administration’s commitment to good governance and development in Rivers State.
