FG Reaffirms Commitment to Deliver 100,000 Housing Units Before End of Tinubu’s Tenure
The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to completing 100,000 housing units before the end of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing the initiative as a key component of its efforts to address Nigeria’s housing deficit and expand access to affordable homes.
Government officials said the housing programme is being implemented under the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda, with projects currently at various stages of construction across the country. They noted that the initiative is designed to provide decent and affordable housing for low- and middle-income Nigerians while creating employment opportunities and stimulating economic growth.
According to the government, the target of delivering 100,000 housing units remains achievable, with ongoing collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, state governments, private sector partners and financial institutions to accelerate project delivery.
Officials explained that the housing scheme is expected to boost the construction industry, promote local production of building materials and generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs. They added that infrastructure such as roads, water supply and electricity is being integrated into the housing estates to ensure sustainable communities.
The Federal Government also reiterated its commitment to making home ownership more accessible through flexible mortgage financing and other affordable housing initiatives. It urged Nigerians to take advantage of the available housing programmes designed to improve living standards and reduce the country’s housing shortfall.
The renewed assurance comes as the government continues to implement policies aimed at expanding infrastructure, promoting urban development and improving the welfare of citizens through sustainable housing projects nationwide.
