FG Demands Justice, Compensation Over Alleged Afrophobic Attacks on Nigerians
The Federal Government has called for justice and adequate compensation for Nigerians affected by alleged Afrophobic attacks, reaffirming its commitment to protecting the rights, dignity and welfare of its citizens living abroad.
Government officials condemned the attacks, describing them as discriminatory and unacceptable, while urging the authorities in the affected country to conduct thorough investigations, prosecute those responsible and ensure justice for the victims. The government stressed that no individual should face violence, intimidation or discrimination based on nationality or ethnic background.
According to the Federal Government, Nigeria remains committed to promoting peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and stronger diplomatic relations with other African countries. However, it emphasized that such relationships must be built on the principles of equality, human rights and the protection of all African citizens regardless of their country of origin.
The government also called for fair compensation for Nigerians who suffered injuries, loss of property or other damages during the attacks. It noted that providing adequate compensation would demonstrate accountability and help restore confidence among affected victims and their families.
The Federal Government further urged African leaders, regional organisations and the international community to intensify efforts to combat xenophobia, discrimination and hate-driven violence across the continent. It stressed the need for stronger legal frameworks and public awareness campaigns to promote unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among African nations.
Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of Nigerians in the diaspora, the government pledged to continue engaging diplomatic channels to ensure the safety of its citizens while advocating for justice, accountability and respect for human rights.
