Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Registrar Folasade Akintola Elected COREG Public Relations Officer
The Registrar of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Mrs. Folasade Bimbo Akintola, has been elected as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Conference of Registrars of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in Nigeria (COREG), a development widely regarded as a recognition of her administrative competence and professional contributions to tertiary education in the country.
Mrs. Akintola emerged as a member of the newly inaugurated national executive committee of COREG during the association’s leadership election, where registrars from polytechnics and colleges of technology across Nigeria elected new officers to steer the affairs of the body. The election also produced Dr. Obini Onuchukwu, Registrar of the Federal Polytechnic, Ohodo, as the new National Chairman of the association.
Her election is another milestone in a distinguished administrative career that has seen her rise through the ranks at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti. Before her appointment as the institution’s substantive Registrar, Mrs. Akintola served in several strategic capacities, including Deputy Registrar, School Officer, and Director of Academic Affairs. She also made history as the first alumna of the institution to be appointed Registrar.
As Public Relations Officer of COREG, Mrs. Akintola will be responsible for promoting the association’s activities, strengthening communication with stakeholders, and projecting the image of registrars in Nigeria’s polytechnic and college of technology system. Her new role is expected to enhance collaboration among institutions while supporting initiatives aimed at improving professionalism, administrative excellence, and policy advocacy within the nation’s tertiary education sector.
COREG, established in 1973, serves as the umbrella body for registrars of polytechnics and colleges of technology in Nigeria. The association promotes professional development, institutional governance, administrative best practices, and strategic engagement with the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and other stakeholders in higher education.
