FCTA Warns Hotels, Event Centres Against Hosting Illegal Groups in Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has warned hotels, event centres, and other hospitality establishments in Abuja against providing venues for unlawful groups, illegal associations, and activities capable of threatening public peace and security.
The administration said operators of hospitality facilities have a responsibility to ensure that their premises are not used for gatherings, meetings, or activities that violate existing laws or undermine national security.
FCTA officials stressed that security agencies have been directed to intensify surveillance and monitoring of public venues across the Federal Capital Territory to prevent the use of hotels and event centres for unlawful purposes.
According to the administration, any hotel, event centre, recreational facility, or hospitality business found aiding, accommodating, or knowingly hosting illegal organisations may face sanctions, closure, prosecution, or other penalties in line with the law.
The warning forms part of ongoing efforts by the FCTA to strengthen security measures across Abuja and ensure that public facilities are not exploited by criminal elements or groups operating outside legal frameworks.
Authorities urged owners and managers of hotels, event centres, and entertainment facilities to carry out proper verification of clients, maintain accurate records of bookings, and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The administration reiterated its commitment to protecting residents of the Federal Capital Territory, maintaining public order, and preventing security breaches that could threaten lives and property.
Security stakeholders have also called on business owners within the hospitality industry to cooperate fully with government agencies by adhering to regulatory requirements and supporting intelligence-gathering efforts aimed at improving safety across the nation’s capital.
The latest directive underscores the FCTA’s determination to strengthen security oversight and ensure that Abuja remains safe for residents, investors, visitors, and legitimate business activities.
