The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Ajao Saka Adewale, has strongly condemned the unprovoked attack on security personnel by members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shi’ites.
In a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, it was revealed that nineteen suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack, which resulted in the death of one security personnel.
The incident occurred on March 28, 2025, at approximately 2:20 PM when a distress call was received by the FCT Police Command, reporting a violent assault on security operatives in the Banex area of Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2. Members of the IMN, armed with firearms, cutlasses, catapults, sticks, stones, petrol bombs, and other lethal weapons, attacked the officers.
Upon receiving the report, police and security personnel swiftly responded to the scene. However, they encountered intense gunfire from the attackers, leading to the serious injury of three security operatives. The injured officers were immediately transported to the National Hospital, where one of them was tragically pronounced dead.
The FCT Police Command has arrested nineteen suspects in connection with the attack, while others involved managed to escape. Normalcy has been restored in the area, and investigations are ongoing to ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice.
CP Ajao Saka Adewale emphasized that the police are taking every necessary action to apprehend the individuals responsible for this heinous act. He also issued a stern warning, stating that attacks on security operatives—who risk their lives to protect citizens—will not be tolerated.
