Three Arraigned Over Alleged Murder of Businessman in Abuja
Three suspects have been arraigned before a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in connection with the alleged murder of a businessman in Abuja.
The defendants were brought before the court on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and other related offences following investigations into the killing of the victim.
According to the prosecution, the suspects allegedly conspired to murder the businessman under circumstances that prompted a police investigation, leading to their arrest and subsequent prosecution.
During the court proceedings, the prosecution informed the court that it had assembled evidence linking the defendants to the alleged crime and urged the court to proceed with the trial in accordance with the law.
Counsel to the defendants, however, urged the court to protect the constitutional rights of the accused persons, maintaining that they remain innocent until proven guilty.
After listening to submissions from both parties, the court ordered that the defendants be remanded in custody pending the determination of their bail applications and adjourned the case to a later date for further hearing.
The arraignment marks the beginning of the judicial process in the high-profile murder case, with the prosecution expected to present witnesses and documentary evidence as the trial progresses.
The case has attracted public attention in the Federal Capital Territory, where residents continue to call for justice and a thorough prosecution of those found culpable in the businessman’s death.
