Yayi’s Grassroots Interventions Endear Him To Ogun Indigenes in Diaspora — Mustapha

A Canada-based legal practitioner and member of the Yayi Diaspora Movement, Barrister Babatunde Mustapha (TM), has commended the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan (Yayi), for the N1.5 billion empowerment programme designed to support farmers, market men and women across the three senatorial districts of Ogun State.

Mustapha, an immigration consultant and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Diaspora from Ward 7, Abeokuta North Local Government Area, described the intervention as one of the most impactful grassroots economic empowerment initiatives undertaken by a federal lawmaker in recent times.

He said the programme had provided much-needed economic relief to thousands of beneficiaries while strengthening small businesses, supporting agricultural production and stimulating economic activities across Ogun State.

According to him, the distribution of cash grants, agricultural inputs, tractors, seedlings, fertilisers and other business support packages demonstrates Senator Adeola’s commitment to inclusive economic development, poverty reduction and improved livelihoods for ordinary citizens.

Mustapha noted that the intervention was particularly significant at a time when many households and small-scale businesses were facing economic pressures, stressing that direct support for farmers and traders could contribute substantially to local production, food security and employment generation.

He said the initiative also complemented the development agenda of the Ogun State Government, particularly in the areas of social welfare and wellbeing as well as agriculture.

“Senator Adeola’s intervention is taking grassroots empowerment to another level. By supporting farmers and traders with financial assistance, agricultural inputs and equipment, he is not only helping individuals but also strengthening the local economy and creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods,” he said.

The educationist further noted that Senator Adeola had distinguished himself through people-oriented interventions that cut across political and social divides, maintaining that his contributions to education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth development and economic empowerment predated the latest N1.5 billion scheme.

Mustapha said the senator’s consistency in implementing programmes that directly affect the lives of constituents had continued to endear him to the people of Ogun State, including indigenes living abroad.

He added that the senator’s leadership and commitment to youth development were among the reasons members of the Ogun State diaspora were increasingly encouraged to return home and contribute to the state’s development.

“Senator Yayi understands the needs of the masses and has consistently demonstrated a commitment to empowering the people, particularly the youths.

“His interventions are not limited to political considerations; they are focused on creating opportunities and improving lives,” Mustapha stated.

He urged beneficiaries of the empowerment programme to utilise the grants, equipment and agricultural inputs judiciously, stressing that the long-term success of the initiative would depend on the ability of beneficiaries to sustain and expand the businesses and farming ventures established through the intervention.

Mustapha also called on other elected representatives and political office holders to emulate Senator Adeola by developing empowerment programmes capable of improving the living standards of their constituents, promoting entrepreneurship and stimulating economic growth at the grassroots.

While reaffirming the support of members of the Ogun diaspora for Senator Adeola’s developmental initiatives, he expressed confidence that the lawmaker would continue to champion programmes capable of contributing to the socio-economic development of Ogun State and Nigeria.

“The Yayi Diaspora Movement is proud to identify with this remarkable initiative. At a time when many citizens are grappling with economic challenges, Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan has once again demonstrated visionary leadership by investing over N1.5 billion to empower thousands of hardworking farmers and traders across Ogun Central, Ogun East and Ogun West.

“This programme is not merely an empowerment exercise; it is a strategic investment in food security, entrepreneurship, job creation and sustainable economic growth. The beneficiaries will not only improve their livelihoods but also contribute meaningfully to the economic development of their respective communities.

“It is high time for more Nigerians in the diaspora to come back home and support the aggressive transformative agenda of the Senator. Indeed, this is the Ogun State of our dream,” he added.
