Eid-el Fitri: Islamic Scholar, Sugar  Wants Gov’t To Permit 2020 Congregational Prayer

The Wakeelu Muslims Of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Sheikh Iskeel Awwal, popularly known as Sugar has appealed to  the governors of the states to reopen mosques so as to allow Muslims to hold their Eid-el Fitri  congregational prayer.
He also appealed for  reopening of  churches across the states, saying that prayer is the only solution to end the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the country.
Sugar disclosed this on  Thursday during a press conference held at the NUJ Secretariat, Abeokuta, Ogun state.
He however  commended the efforts of the governors  on their commitment towards  the fight against the covid-19  pandemic .
The Islamic scholar  said, ”Truth must be told , our Governors are heroes for what they have done and what they are doing to protect their people in their respective states against the enemy of humanity called coronavirus .
” On behalf of the Muslims in Yorubaland ,Edo and Delta land,  I want to appeal to our Governors  to allow Muslims hold the coming Eid prayer at their respective prayer grounds in the states .
”As the Wakeelu Muslims , I know that  mosque  which is  the house of Allah has the solution for whatever problems either spiritual or physical”
He maintained that Muslims  could not access mosques which is  the house of Allah before and during this year Ramadan, saying that it  has denied them  the benefit of congregations  of solats and listening to Tafsir.
”I am not surprised that my brothers and sisters in Islam obey  the Government’s  order , despite that it is so   painful to stay away from the mosques .It is because  Allah enjoins  us to obey  him, his  prophet and the people in the authority .
”However , without mincing words , the circumstance in the country has shown that , if we follow the guidelines of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on the prevention of the virus we can be fine”
He assured the  Governors that if they can  reopen the mosques, they  will all beg Allah for his mercies against the pandemic and He will heal our land .

”While we appeal to the Governors to reopen the mosques for us , I wish to advise the Muslims to ensure that they follow the guidelines of NCDC on the use of face masks ; washing of hands with hand sanitiser and keeping social distancing .

”I wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters a warm and fruitful  celebration  of Eid fitr .

”I also  enjoined  them to retain the lessons learnt in the month of Ramadan which include fear of Allah ; kindness to others ;  full time worship and discipline among  others” He concluded
