Aiyedatiwa’s Infrastructure Drive Will Boost Ondo Economy, IGR — Princess Kikelomo Ikuomola

Hon. Princess Kikelomo Ikuomola, Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Public and Intergovernmental Relations, has commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his administration’s infrastructure drive, describing the flag-off of the 2.38-kilometre Akure Flyover Project as a strategic investment capable of stimulating economic activities, improving mobility and strengthening Ondo State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Princess Ikuomola said sustainable economic growth in any state or nation is closely connected to the quality of infrastructure available to support businesses, investment, transportation and the movement of goods and services.
According to her, Governor Aiyedatiwa’s decision to invest in major infrastructure demonstrates an understanding that roads, bridges and efficient transportation networks are not merely physical projects but important foundations for economic development.
She explained that improved infrastructure can reduce transportation costs and travel time, enhance commercial activities, attract private investment and create an enabling environment for businesses to expand.
Akure Flyover Key to Ondo’s Growing Economy
Princess Ikuomola described the Akure Flyover Project as a timely response to the increasing transportation and development needs of the Ondo State capital.
She noted that as Akure continues to experience population and commercial growth, government must anticipate future demands by providing infrastructure capable of supporting increased movement and economic activities.
“The strength of an economy is closely connected to the quality of infrastructure supporting it. When movement becomes easier, businesses operate more efficiently, investment becomes more attractive and economic activities expand,” she said.
She added that the flyover would help address traffic pressure, improve connectivity and enhance road safety while creating a more efficient environment for residents, businesses, investors and visitors.
Infrastructure Development Can Strengthen Ondo IGR
Princess Ikuomola further stressed that infrastructure development could play an important role in expanding Ondo State’s revenue base.
According to her, increased business activities and investment resulting from improved infrastructure can broaden the economic environment from which government generates revenue.
She said strategic infrastructure investment should therefore be viewed as part of a broader economic development programme rather than simply expenditure on physical construction.
“For the economy and Internally Generated Revenue of a state to grow sustainably, government must create the infrastructure that allows businesses and citizens to become more productive,” she stated.
She maintained that infrastructure projects also have multiplier effects through construction activities, employment opportunities, increased commercial activities and the potential attraction of new businesses.
Ikuomola Hails Aiyedatiwa’s Development Vision
The Special Adviser described Governor Aiyedatiwa’s infrastructure programme as evidence of a government prepared to make long-term investments for the development of Ondo State.
“Leadership is not simply about identifying the challenges before us. It is about having the courage to make the investments that will improve lives today while preparing our communities for tomorrow.
“The flag-off of this flyover demonstrates Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to building an Ondo State where infrastructure supports opportunity, movement is easier, businesses can thrive and our cities are equipped for the future,” Princess Ikuomola said.
She noted that projects of such magnitude require planning, collaboration, financial commitment and political will, adding that their successful delivery could leave lasting economic and social benefits.
Ondo State Positioned for Sustainable Development
Princess Ikuomola congratulated Governor Aiyedatiwa and the people of Ondo State on the commencement of the Akure Flyover Project and reaffirmed her office’s commitment to constructive stakeholder engagement and partnerships that advance the state’s development agenda.
She expressed confidence that sustained investment in infrastructure, economic development and people-centred governance would help position Ondo State for stronger growth and greater investment opportunities.
According to her, the success of infrastructure development should ultimately be measured not only by the roads, bridges and other structures constructed, but also by their impact on businesses, employment, investment, government revenue and the everyday lives of citizens.
She concluded that the Akure Flyover represents another step in the administration’s efforts to build infrastructure capable of supporting the present and future economic needs of the Sunshine State.
