EFCC Releases Activists Randy Peter, Mama Pee After 11-Hour Questioning
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has released activists Peter Akah, popularly known as Randy Peter, and Precious Oruche, also known as Mama Pee, after questioning them for several hours at its headquarters in Abuja.
The activists were released around midnight after spending approximately 11 hours with officials of the anti-graft agency. They were, however, directed to return to the commission’s office on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
Their colleague, Justice Crack, confirmed the development in a social media post after accompanying the duo to the EFCC headquarters on Wednesday afternoon.
According to him, Randy Peter and Mama Pee arrived at the commission’s office at about 1:00 p.m. after honouring an official invitation.
He said the activists were eventually allowed to leave at around midnight, adding that they were in good condition following their release.
Concerns had earlier spread across social media after reports emerged that the two activists had remained at the EFCC office for several hours without any public information about their status.
Esther Umoh, a photographer who worked with Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, had raised the alarm over their prolonged stay at the commission’s headquarters.
The development triggered speculation that the activists might have been detained or arrested by the anti-graft agency.
However, Justice Crack later clarified that both activists had been released and were expected to return to the EFCC office as directed.
The commission had not publicly disclosed the reason for inviting or questioning Randy Peter and Mama Pee at the time of filing this report.
