Daniel Daga Cleared by Norwegian Appeal Court, Eligible to Resume Football
Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga has been acquitted by the Frostating Court of Appeal in Norway, bringing an end to the legal uncertainty that sidelined him from professional football for several months.
The appeal court unanimously overturned an earlier conviction against the 19-year-old after reviewing the evidence, clearing him of sexual assault charges. Throughout the legal proceedings, Daga maintained that he was innocent and insisted the encounter in question was consensual.
Following the ruling, his Norwegian club, Molde FK, confirmed that the young midfielder is once again eligible for selection, although the club noted that the legal process has not been fully concluded.
The case originated from an allegation connected to an incident reported in April 2025. Daga was convicted by a lower court earlier this year and suspended from football activities while pursuing an appeal against the judgment.
The latest verdict restores the former Flying Eagles star’s opportunity to continue his professional career. Widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s brightest midfield prospects, Daga is now expected to resume training and competitive football with renewed confidence after his acquittal.
