A 68-year-old man identified as Son has been arrested by security operatives in Bayelsa State after four firearms were recovered from his residence during a coordinated security operation.
The arrest was made by operatives of the Bayelsa State Police Command as part of ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and strengthen security across the state.
According to the police, the operation followed credible intelligence, which led officers to the suspect’s residence where a search was conducted. During the operation, four firearms were recovered, while the suspect was taken into custody for further investigation.
Police authorities said preliminary investigations are underway to determine how the suspect obtained the weapons and whether they were linked to any criminal activities within or outside the state.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the illegal possession of firearms and other security threats, urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information that would aid crime prevention.
