Barcelona Complete €29m Signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund
Spanish champions Barcelona have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of German international Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth a reported €29 million (approximately $33 million), including performance-related add-ons. The 24-year-old forward has signed a five-year contract that will keep him at the Camp Nou until June 2031.
The Catalan club confirmed the transfer, describing Adeyemi as a versatile attacker capable of playing on either wing or as a central striker. His arrival reunites him with Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, who handed him his senior Germany debut in 2021 and is expected to play a key role in integrating him into the squad.
Adeyemi joins Barcelona after four productive seasons with Borussia Dortmund, where he made 146 appearances in all competitions, scoring 36 goals and providing 24 assists. He also gained valuable UEFA Champions League experience, featuring 48 times in Europe’s premier club competition.
Speaking after completing the move, Adeyemi thanked Borussia Dortmund, his teammates and the club’s supporters for their backing during his time in Germany. Dortmund also acknowledged the forward’s contribution and said the transfer was approved following the player’s decision to begin a new chapter in Spain.
Barcelona believe Adeyemi’s pace, technical quality and versatility will add greater depth to their attack as the club prepares to defend its La Liga title and compete in the UEFA Champions League next season. The signing is expected to provide Hansi Flick with more attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
