APC Appoints Hope Uzodimma to Chair Osun Governorship Campaign Council
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as Chairman of its National Campaign Council for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, marking the formal commencement of the party’s nationwide campaign strategy ahead of the August 15 poll.
The party also constituted a 276-member National Campaign Council comprising governors, members of the National Working Committee, ministers, principal officers of the National Assembly, federal and state lawmakers, and other party stakeholders. The council is expected to coordinate campaign activities and mobilise support for the APC candidate across Osun State.
According to the APC, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas will serve as co-chairmen of the campaign council. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, was named deputy chairman, while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin will serve as secretary of the council.
To strengthen campaign operations, the ruling party also inaugurated specialised sub-committees responsible for election planning, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots engagement, logistics, security, media and publicity, youth mobilisation, women’s mobilisation, protocol, compliance, and inclusion of persons with disabilities. The committees are expected to ensure effective coordination of campaign activities ahead of the election.
The APC announced that the National Campaign Council and all sub-committees will be formally inaugurated at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja before deployment to Osun State. Party leaders expressed confidence that the campaign structure would consolidate support across the state and position the APC for victory in the governorship election.
