Aisha Yesufu Vows to Continue Political Reform Campaign Despite FCT Senatorial Ticket Loss
Prominent activist and politician, Aisha Yesufu, has assured her supporters that her political journey and commitment to national transformation remain firmly on track despite losing her party’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senatorial ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a series of engagements across the six area councils of the FCT, Yesufu emphasized that the broader struggle for good governance, accountability, and national development transcends individual political ambitions. She maintained that the outcome of the party’s senatorial nomination process would not derail the movement she and her supporters have built over the years.
The activist met with party stakeholders, youth groups, women leaders, community representatives, and grassroots mobilisers in Kwali, Abaji, Gwagwalada, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, and Kuje to express appreciation for their support and loyalty throughout the nomination process.
According to Yesufu, the pursuit of a better Nigeria remains the ultimate objective, stressing that citizens must continue to participate actively in politics and governance regardless of electoral setbacks. She called for greater voter mobilisation, civic engagement, and grassroots organisation as essential tools for achieving meaningful political change and strengthening democratic institutions.
Many supporters who attended the meetings expressed disappointment over the outcome of the FCT senatorial primary, arguing that Yesufu enjoyed widespread grassroots support across the territory. However, they reaffirmed their commitment to the larger goal of political reform and national development.
Political observers say Yesufu’s response signals her intention to remain an influential voice in Nigeria’s political landscape as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum. Her continued emphasis on accountability, citizen participation, and governance reforms is expected to keep her actively involved in shaping political discourse across the country.
The development comes amid growing political realignments and intensified grassroots mobilisation by political parties and civic groups ahead of the next general elections, with many stakeholders positioning themselves for what is expected to be a highly competitive electoral cycle.
