Abiodun Credits Traditional Rulers for Ogun’s Development Gains
Governor Dapo Abiodun has attributed the successes recorded by his administration to the consistent support and cooperation of traditional rulers across Ogun State.
Speaking during the statutory meeting of the Ogun State Council of Obas held in Abeokuta, the governor described the gathering as an important platform for dialogue, reflection, and collective responsibility in governance.
Abiodun highlighted the vital role of monarchs as custodians of culture and key intermediaries between the government and the grassroots, noting that their influence has significantly contributed to peace, stability, and development in the state.
He stressed that traditional rulers play a central role in shaping societal values, maintaining order, and promoting unity, adding that their involvement has been instrumental in driving his administration’s socio-economic achievements.
According to the governor, sustainable development can only thrive in a peaceful and secure environment, emphasizing that security remains a shared responsibility between the government and traditional institutions. He urged royal fathers to continue supporting efforts in intelligence gathering, conflict resolution, and community sensitisation.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with traditional institutions to enhance governance and development across the state.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, commended the governor for his support for traditional rulers, particularly in improving their welfare and operational capacity.
A major highlight of the meeting was the distribution of 40 Sport Utility Vehicles to monarchs across the state’s traditional councils, aimed at enhancing their mobility and effectiveness in their domains.
