Ogun Police Arrest Seven Suspects, Recover Firearm and Stolen Property in Major Security Crackdown
The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a major security breakthrough following a series of intelligence-led operations across different parts of the state, leading to the arrest of seven suspects linked to armed robbery, housebreaking, stealing, conspiracy, and other criminal activities.
The successful operations, carried out by officers attached to Sango-Ota, Owode-Egba, and Agbado Divisions, also resulted in the recovery of a locally fabricated firearm, stolen electrical appliances, cash, and other exhibits.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the coordinated operations were part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security, dismantle criminal networks, and ensure the safety of residents across Ogun State.
Three Arrested Over Armed Robbery in Sango-Ota
Operatives of the Sango-Ota Division arrested three suspects identified as Pelumi Akintande, 21, Mojeed Sanusi, 28, and Mubarak Lateef, 17, in connection with an armed robbery incident reported in the Alasia Community.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly attacked a resident and forcefully dispossessed the victim of valuables. Acting on credible intelligence and information provided by members of the public, officers swiftly tracked down and arrested the suspects.
During the operation, a locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol and an expended cartridge allegedly used during the robbery were recovered. Police authorities disclosed that efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang who remain at large.
Suspect Nabbed for Housebreaking and Theft in Ofada
In a separate operation, officers attached to the Owode-Egba Division arrested 22-year-old Damilare Makanjuola over allegations of housebreaking and theft in Ofada.
The suspect was reportedly apprehended while attempting to gain unlawful access into a shop after scaling a perimeter fence. Further investigation linked him to several burglary incidents within Sun City Estate, Ofada, where cash exceeding ₦100,000, electrical appliances, and other valuables were reportedly stolen.
Recovered items have been secured by the police as investigations continue.
Two Arrested While Attempting to Dispose of Stolen Property
Also in Owode-Egba, police operatives arrested Tijani Jubril, 28, and Ezra Modi, 22, for conspiracy and stealing within Treasure Island Estate, Awo Village.
The suspects were intercepted while allegedly attempting to dispose of stolen electrical appliances concealed inside a sack. Preliminary investigations revealed that the items were removed from a residential building after suspected forced entry.
The recovered property has been documented as evidence while the suspects remain in police custody.
Police Prevent Possible Violence Near School
Meanwhile, operatives of the Agbado Division arrested 22-year-old Waris Adebesin for conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and threatening violence.
The suspect was allegedly found armed with a knife while creating tension around a secondary school environment. Police intervention prevented what authorities described as a potential security threat and restored calm in the area.
The knife was recovered at the scene, while investigations are ongoing.
CP Ojajuni Commends Officers, Residents
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism, swift response, and commitment to duty.
He also commended residents for providing timely and useful information that contributed to the success of the arrests.
The police boss assured citizens that the Command would continue its statewide security strategy aimed at reducing crime, protecting lives and property, and bringing criminal elements to justice.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue collaborating with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities within their communities.
The Ogun State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all residents and visitors across the state.
