Iran Accuses United States of Sabotaging Talks as Foreign Minister Lands in Russia

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has blamed the United States for the collapse of recent negotiations, shortly after arriving in Russia for high-level diplomatic talks.
Speaking on Monday, Araghchi said the discussions broke down despite initial progress, accusing Washington of making “excessive demands” that ultimately derailed the process.
The talks, which were considered a key opportunity to ease tensions, ended without agreement after planned follow-up engagements failed to materialize. The breakdown highlights ongoing disagreements between Iran and the United States over critical issues including nuclear policy, regional security, and economic sanctions.
Araghchi’s visit to Russia is seen as part of Iran’s broader diplomatic strategy to strengthen alliances and explore alternative pathways for resolving the standoff. The move also reflects Tehran’s effort to engage with key global partners amid stalled dialogue with Washington.
The failed negotiations underscore the persistent divide between both nations, with each side continuing to blame the other for the lack of progress. While diplomatic channels remain open, prospects for a breakthrough appear uncertain as tensions continue across the region.
